“All right, that worked. We can go to Lamar and I will level after we ask him, simple.”

Vadis led Thulen back to Sar Vath and they traveled down a cobblestone street that led southwest after entering the east gate. They passed the Alchemist shop and the herbalist before stopping at a place called Enchanted Enchantments.

“Wait,” Thulen said. “I thought enchanting was rare yet here is a shop. Why isn’t this guy sought after for his talents?”

“Because his enchanting talents are paltry, only useful to enchant a few pieces of jewelry or other small objects. He could never enchant something so monumental as to warrant his skills.”

“Then why are you getting him to teach me?”

“Enchanting is enchanting. Just because his ability taps out on object bigger than the size of a small dagger doesn’t mean yours will. The concept of enchantment will be the same.”

They stepped inside the shop. Small items of crystal, pewter and other non-precious items dotted the shelves. The cases nearest the counter all had jewelry, enchanted for pluses to crafting and other trivial tasks. A squirrelly-looking man with a cheesy mustache and an undeveloped torso appeared from the back room and met them at the counter.

“Hello, what can I get you today?” He said. Then he apparently remembered Vadis, “Vadis! What are you doing here? I paid you back in full as I recall.”

“Relax, Lamar, I’m not here for that. I am hoping that you will show my friend here the ins and outs of enchanting.”

Lamar looked apprehensively at Thulen, “He appears to be descended from the Lazule lineage.” He sniffed his derision rather loudly.

“You are a shopkeeper in Sar Vath, the city the Lazule family built, you might want to curb that contempt,” Vadis said.

“Of course,” Lamar said.

“I would very much like you to train me to enchant,” Thulen said, aware that by asking the man he would complete his quest and level to 10.
